Packers CB Jaire Alexander undergoes MRI on his knee after win over Jaguars

On Monday, Green Bay Packers linebacker Jaire Alexander will undergo an MRI on his knee to evaluate a potential injury he suffered late in the Packers’ 30-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Alexander, a two-time All-Pro, appeared to be injured after catching Evan Engram for a 14-yard touchdown with less than two minutes remaining. Following the play, Alexander thought he had a chance to make an interception, but Engram ran in front to catch the ball and Alexander immediately hobbled on one leg into the back of the end zone.

Watch Alexander at the end of the show:

The injury occurred on the Packers’ last defensive play. After the ensuing possession, Malik Willis hit Jayden Reed for a 51-yard completion and set up Brandon McManus’ game-winning field goal as time expired.

Alexander is Green Bay’s No. 1 corner. He broke up two passes in Sunday’s win at Jacksonville and is currently tied with Xavier McKinney for the team lead in pass defense (7). A serious injury to Alexander would be a significant blow to the Packers’ standing as a contender given the team’s lack of depth at cornerback.

Keisean Nixon, Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine are the other three on the depth chart. Rookie Javon Bullard played the slot.

The Packers may be injured for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Alexander is injured, Jordan Love missed the game with a groin injury and Evan Williams suffered a hamstring injury before the game and missed most of the victory in Jacksonville.

The Packers have a bye in Week 10, so a much-needed chance at recovery is just around the corner.
