Sheriff: Four arrested in connection with separate drunk driving crashes in Saratoga County

Last week, Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies arrested four people in connection with alleged drunk driving accidents.

According to police, in all four the drivers are accused of having a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or more. The permissible limit is 0.08%.

John V. Bonnie III, 36, of Halfmoon, was charged Oct. 19 with DWI, unsafe lane departure, failure to maintain lane and speeding after an accident in the town of Halfmoon.

Jason P. Gibbins, 51, was charged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or greater and unsafe lane departure. He was arrested after an Oct. 25 accident in the village of Schuylerville.

Katelyn M. Curtis, 26, of Mechanicville, was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or greater dangerously leaving the lane following an Oct. 26 accident in the Town of Halfmoon.

Nicholas A. Fjellman, 39, of Middle Grove, was charged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or greater and failure to maintain lane following an Oct. 26 motor vehicle accident in the Town of Greenfield.

“There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo said in a statement. “Each of these arrests involved a car accident, and some of them resulted in injuries. Please take the time to plan a sober driver or ride. Your life or someone else’s may depend on it.”
