An accused burglar jumps off the roof and tries to hide in a chamber pot

CAMPBELL, Calif. – A makeshift hiding place in a porta-potty couldn’t save an accused burglar from arrest, California police said.

Officers who received a report of a burglary in a warehouse facility spotted a 47-year-old man jumping from one of the roofs around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, Campbell police said in a news release.

Despite being ordered to stop, the man fled, and officers found three backpacks containing knives and burglary tools on the roof. Part of the roof was cut out.

Deputies and officers organized a round and began searching for the man, police added.

Officers found the man hiding in a nearby chamber pot, where they were arrested without incident, police added.

He faces charges including burglary, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools and pepper spray, a stun gun and a concealed dagger/dagger, police said.

Campbell is approximately 50 miles southeast of San Francisco.
