Man shot twice by Weld County sheriff’s deputy east of Greeley

A gunman was shot and wounded Sunday by a Weld County sheriff’s deputy near Greeley, according to investigators.

At approximately 12:16 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a disturbance reported in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue Lane in unincorporated Weld County, east of Greeley, according to a news release from the 19th Judicial Circuit’s Critical Response Team.

When officers arrived, they found an armed man who investigators say fired a gun while deputies were on scene. They did not say whether the man’s shots were fired at the deputies.

In the release, investigators said a Weld County deputy shot the man – who has not been publicly identified – twice.

Emergency services took the man to hospital and, according to investigators, he is expected to survive.
