Grand Forks man charged with attempted assault on an officer

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Grand Forks man is charged with attempting to assault a police officer Sunday night.

Michael Dennis Sisk, 48, is charged with two counts of attempted simple assault, one count of terrorizing, preventing arrest and disorderly conduct.

Court documents state that on Sunday, October 27, at 12:44 p.m., an officer was called to the 300 block of Kittson Avenue for a report of loud music in a residence. Sisk was outside the apartment as the officer spoke to people who called about the music. In response to Sisk’s comments, officers took him to Altru Hospital for examination.

When Sisk got out of the police car, the officer noticed a flathead screwdriver in his pocket. According to court records, Sisk told the officer, “Why don’t you just turn away for a moment? Just turn around and look there, just for a second. I won’t do anything, there is no weapon. When asked what he was talking about, Sisk replied:

“Just look over there. You will see something special.”

Eventually, Sisk was taken to hospital, where he was placed in a wheelchair. Court records show he tried to push the paramedics away from him.

The officer claims Sisk grabbed his duty belt and tried to bite him. Kicking and moving his arms, he refused to obey the officer’s commands. Sisk would end up ripping off the officer’s sleeve and hitting his armor vest. He was then handcuffed.

As Sisk told paramedics and officers, “You’re all dead,” he was arrested for disorderly conduct. Sisk said he didn’t care and that everyone was “all dead.”

Sisk was forcibly detained. As officers carried him, he began kicking and screaming before he was eventually placed in a unit of the Grand Forks County Correctional Facility.
