Albany man, 18, hit woman, stole vehicle

An 18-year-old Albany man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman. Antonio Guynup approached the 30-year-old victim in the area of ​​Washington Avenue and Quail Street around 2 a.m. Monday. Albany police said he punched her several times in the face before stealing her vehicle. The victim had wounds to his eye and chin. She was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Memorial Hospital.

The victim had wounds to his eye and chin. She was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Memorial Hospital.

The officer saw Guynup driving the victim’s vehicle in the area of ​​Myrtle Avenue and South Pine Street. Guynup allegedly refused to stop and exited the vehicle while it was still in motion. The accident occurred in the area of ​​Morris Street and Patridge Street. Guynup was arrested nearby.

Guynup was charged with robbery, grand larceny, unlawful fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment, as well as traffic offenses.

He was arraigned in Albany Municipal Court and sent to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
