The Pittsburgh Steelers star is having a career night after winning over the Giants

PITTSBURGH — When Pittsburgh Steelerthey had no star other than a defender Alex Highsmith they lost two games in three weeks. They had their two worst defensive performances of the season against the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. But Highsmith’s return over the past two weeks has given the Steelers new life, which had suffered after losing Nick Herbig to a hamstring injury.

But on Monday, Highsmith went above and beyond. He faces a former Steelers offensive attack Chris Hubbard for most of the game, Highsmith had a career-high 12 pressures per game. Not only did he provide pressure, but Highsmith recorded six quarterback hits and two sacks, proving some impressive stats. He did it on the right and left side, and at moments in the match he even positioned himself above the inside goal.

Teaming with TJ Watt, the duo had four sacks on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

“That’s what I love is that we work in tandem. Many times, like in this play, we work together to create these plays. It was cool,” Highsmith said. “Getting back-to-back sacks on that drive was awesome, too. We just have to keep building. I think it was a solid team effort.”

Highsmith continues to shine when he gets a chance to play. Even if he isn’t what Watt is on the opposite side, Highsmith has become a terror for most offensive tackles, and it was no different as the Steelers went 6-2.
