Nishad Yusuf, editor of Kanguva and Thallumaala, was found dead at his home in Kochi

Popular film editor Nishadh Yusuf was found dead in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 30. According to reports, his body was found in his apartment in Panampilly Nagar in Kochi around 2 am. Police officers are investigating. The cause of death has not yet been determined. He was 43 years old.

Nishadh Yusuf’s sudden death was confirmed by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Association on its official Facebook page.

The union shared a photo of Nishadh and wrote, “The unexpected death of Nishadha Yusuf, a film editor who played a major role in defining the modern future of the changing Malayalam cinema, is not something that the film world will be able to accept anytime soon. Condolences from the FEFKA Directors Association.”

The news of Nishadh’s tragic death came as a huge shock to his supporters and those in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries.

Nishadh Yusuf was from Harippad. His notable films as an editor include Thallumaala, Unda, One, Saudi Vellakka and Adios Amigos. His upcoming project is Suriya and director Siruthai Siva’s big-budget film Kanguva, which is scheduled to release on great premiere on November 14.

His upcoming films also include Mammootty’s Bazooka and Suriya’s upcoming film with director-actor RJ Balaji.

In 2022, Nishadh Yusuf received the Kerala State Award for Best Editor for his outstanding work in the critically acclaimed film Thallumaala.

Nishadh Yusuf left behind his wife, son and daughter.
