Super Metro’s Makanga Bae’s brother speaks out after chaotic burial: ‘wife driven away’

His brother, Stephen Obwaka, in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.kerevealed details about the challenges they faced in organizing his burial.

According to Obwaka, the family initially wanted to bury the 29-year-old brother in their home in Mumias, Kakameganext to their dead father.

However, the stepmother reportedly did not agree to this, thwarting their plans. At last family he relented and let Mwas be buried in Kikuyuwhere the stepmother allegedly wished it, choosing not to contest the case in court to avoid further delays.

“We wanted to give our brother a proper burial next to our father in Mumias, but our stepmother refused, so we allowed her to bury him in Kikuyu. Challenging the burial in court would be a waste of our time. We did what we could and bought a coffin for Mwasa,” his brother said.

What happened during Mwasa’s burial?

Obwaka expressed deep concern over the treatment of his brother’s wife. He alleged that she was verbally attacked and ultimately allegedly driven out by their stepmother, even though she had been with Gerald for four years and supported him during that time, especially when he was unemployed.

“They treated his wife so unfairly. How can someone chase away a woman who has been with her son for four years? There was a time when Gerald had no job and his wife took care of him. Now they call her a girlfriend and yet she cooked meals for them when Gerald was alive, it was very painful to watch,” Obwaka said.

Did Super Metro mismanage Mwasa’s funeral funds?

Chaos broke out during the burial when Gerald’s mother allegedly accused Super Metro, the company where he worked as a tout, of mishandling funds raised for the funeral.

Obwaka denied the claims, defending the company, saying it had donated KSh63,000 to support Gerald’s wife and their son in burial arrangements.

However, the family allegedly forced Gerald’s wife to give up the money, leading to an emotionally painful situation.

“Super Metro didn’t make a mistake with the money. They are completely clean. I was with them and I can attest to this. Before the funeral, they gave her KSh63,000 to help her and her son prepare, but the family forced her to give the money back. She cried a lot, I don’t know how much the woman expected to receive from the funeral, but it was very heartbreaking,” he said.

The family vowed to support her, recognizing her as a “good lady” and pledging to support her despite the alleged harsh treatment she received during her burial.

“As a family, we regret not knowing her sooner. We cannot abandon her; We will support her because she is a good woman,” he assured.

What led to the death of Gerald Mwanga?

The Super Metro beater died of multi-organ failure after one of his legs was amputated.

This then resulted in low blood flow throughout the body, which had an adverse effect on other critical organs such as the kidneys.

Then Super Metro shared an emotional tribute to the deceased, describing him as a beloved husband and friend.
