Josh Reynolds is shaken after shooting, says Broncos’ Sean Payton

Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Friday that receiver Josh Reynolds is doing well but is “pretty shaken up” after being shot last week.

“He’s lucky,” Payton told reporters after Denver’s practice Friday. “Obviously the league and local authorities are dealing with it. I had the opportunity to talk to him. He was pretty shaken up and I’ll leave it at that.

Reynolds was shot and killed last Friday in Denver. 9News, citing court documents, reports that Reynolds and another man were shot in their car as they were followed from a strip club. Reynolds was hit twice, in the left shoulder and back of the head, and another man was shot in the back, according to the TV station’s report.

Payton said he spoke with the team about the incident on Friday.

“Today we have counseling and a lot of resources that can be leveraged,” Payton said. “All.”

After training in the team’s locker room, the details of the incident no longer mattered. Team members said they were glad Reynolds was OK.

“It’s crazy to know that if you think about it, we could have easily lost one of our teammates and not only that, but also a brother who was very close to me and a very close teammate to me and my family,” left fielder Garett Bolles said. whose locker is next to Reynolds’ locker. “Someone I love and care about and talk to regularly. Knowing this and this whole situation, I don’t want to talk about it too much because I don’t know – I’ll leave that to the authorities, the police and the NFL – I just hope that justice comes to the people who were involved in trying to take someone’s life.

“There is nothing in this world – no time, no place, no argument, nothing that (would justify) trying to take someone’s life.”

Reynolds, like the previous two days, was present at Friday’s training. He was already placed on injured reserve after a broken finger earlier this month required minor surgery. That’s why he didn’t go to New Orleans last week. The Broncos’ card landed back in Denver in the early morning hours Friday, around the same time the shooting reportedly occurred.
