Hertl and Kolesar score late goals, increasing the Golden Knights’ advantage over the Senators 6-4

LAS VEGAS (AP) Tomas Hertl and Keegan Kolesar scored within a minute of each other to give Vegas the lead, and the Golden Knights beat the Ottawa Senators 6-4 on Friday.

Ivan Barbashev scored twice for the Golden Knights, as did Nicolas Roy and Nicolas Hagu. Alex Pietrangelo had three assists, and Jack Eichel, Mark Stone and Tanner Pearson each added two. Adin Hill made 34 saves to earn his third win of the season.

Vegas has now scored six consecutive goals and is averaging 4.37 goals per game.

Adam Gaudette scored twice for the Senators, and Claude Giroux and Drake Bratherson also scored. Linus Ullmark made 22 saves.

Ottawa entered the game with a 3-0-0 record, scoring the first goal and leading after two periods, but was able to maintain the lead against the fourth-lowest scoring team in the league.

Senators: Ullmark is 2-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage after giving up three goals in two games against Vegas. The five goals he scored on Friday were the most he has scored since the New York Islanders defeated him by five last season on March 2.

Golden Knights: Both Stone and Eichel continued their offensive momentum, scoring at least one point in seven of the first eight games in Vegas this season. Stone leads the team with 14 points, followed by Eichel with 13 points.
