The mayor of Bloomington honored former Indiana HC player Lee Corso

On ESPN’s “College GameDay,” viewers felt like they were cutting onions on a Saturday morning.

With the crew in Bloomington, Indiana, for Saturday’s Big Ten game between the 13th-ranked Hoosiers and Washington, former Indiana head coach and longtime co-host Lee Corso took a walk down memory lane.

In a homecoming of sorts, the 89-year-old showed up on set wearing his old Indiana sweater, which he wore while on the sidelines from 1973 to 1982.

The broadcast included a taped meeting with Corso and some of his former players and assistants, during which they reminisced about his time in Bloomington, including beating the then-No. 9 BYU in the Holiday Bowl in 1979. This victory made Corso the first Hoosier head coach to lead the program to a bowl game victory.
