Local woman jailed for seven years for allegedly making telephone threats against a public official

A local woman was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for allegedly threatening a public official with her mobile phone.

According to the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, on October 10, a Bexar County jury found Alicia Arredondo guilty of retaliation.

Today, the same jury sentenced Arredondo to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

According to official documents, Arredondo threatened a government official on her cell phone in retaliation for his role in the prosecution of her son, who is currently incarcerated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The threats were recorded in voicemails from Arredondo on November 2, 2022. In the voicemail, she stated: “We are coming for you and your family, so look both ways.”

We must protect our employees who work tirelessly to uphold the law and keep our communities safe,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a news release. “This conviction sends a clear message that threatening and intimidating any Bexar County District staff member will not be tolerated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office or other public officials.

175th District Court Judge Torres-Stahl presided over the hearing. The Public Integrity and Cybercrime Department handled the prosecution case.
