PP Divya likely to evade police till verdict on bail in ADM suicide case; CPM in standby and watch mode

Kannur: CPM leader and former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya is likely to avoid police till the verdict on her bail plea is delivered in court ADM suicide case is delivered.

A case of abetment of suicide was filed against the former district panchayat president in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. Divya then went into hiding.

Last week, through her lawyer, she presented detailed arguments in court regarding her application for anticipatory bail. According to reports, Divya received legal advice that there was no need to appear before the police. Additionally, police investigating the case will not consider arrest until a decision is made on the bail application. The Thalassery Chief Sessions Court is scheduled to pronounce its judgment on the bail application on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at the CPM State Secretariat meeting held in Thrissur, it was decided to wait for the bail verdict before taking further action against Divya. However, it is learned that there was a heated exchange of words at the Kannur district development committee meeting regarding the delay in Divya’s arrest. Representatives of Congress parliamentarians expressed their protest and insisted on adopting a resolution to arrest all the perpetrators. Ultimately, the resolution was adopted.

Interestingly, the protest took place during a meeting chaired by Collector Arun K. Vijayan, who was present at the street farewell meeting, after which ADM was found hanging.

Statements recorded
The investigation team continues to record statements in connection with the death of ADM K. Naveen Babu. Statements of six people, including the collector’s killer, revenue office officials and employees of the collector, were recorded. The team asked about the factors leading to ADM’s suicide and Divya’s allegations.

Appeal to remove Divya from the Program Committee
An appeal was submitted to the Chief Secretary requesting the removal of Divya from the core curriculum committee of the General Education Department. The petition was submitted by a social activist, attorney-at-law. Kulathoor Jaisingh. Though Divya was removed from her post as district panchayat president, the appeal said this did not qualify her to remain on the core curriculum committee. According to Jaisingh, the Secretary General said that instructions have been given to the Director of General Education to take urgent action.

The new ADM will arrive in Kannur on Wednesday
The new ADM will assume office in Kannur on Wednesday. Padmachandran Kurupp, new special deputy collector (LA-NH), Kollam, is the new ADM. The late ADM resigned from his duties in Kannur on October 14.
