An eyewitness standing next to him in the queue testified that when the deceased fell, it was thought that he had simply fainted, but unfortunately this was not the case.

“We just saw him fall; his number was 420 or 418, because I had 425. We thought he had fainted, but unfortunately he died on the spot. It happened about 20 minutes after I arrived here,” he told Newzrom Afrika in a report.

He further explained that an ambulance was called to help the man, adding that elderly people who witnessed the incident were concerned.

“We were waiting for an ambulance; “anxiety has played its part, especially for the elders, because there are elderly men and women in their 70s here, so you can imagine their anxiety after this case,” he added.

Another witness said he was too nervous to see the deceased’s body because he knew him.

“I didn’t want to see him because I was nervous, but I know this man. It’s very depressing,” he said.

He added that the service provider could have developed a better program to deliver the home improvement service to customers’ homes instead of forcing elderly people to wait in line.

“It’s very bad that something like this is happening in front of us because people came here earlier. Some slept here to perform services.
