Jussie Smollett’s sentence for self-hate attack overturned

Jussie Smollett’s conviction for allegedly organizing a racist and homophobic attack on himself was overturned on Thursday.

The Illinois Supreme Court struck down the law Empire the actor’s 2021 conviction on five counts of disorderly conduct related to a bizarre incident in Chicago two years earlier.

Smollett argued that the special prosecutor should not have been able to intervene after the Cook County State’s Attorney initially dismissed the case.

This is a developing story.
