One person is dead, two are injured as a result of the attack and shooting

FARGO, North Dakota (Valley News Live) – One person is dead and two were taken to the hospital after an assault and shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

It started just after 2:15 a.m. when Fargo police received a report of an aggravated robbery and shooting in the 5500 block of 36th Avenue South. Responding officers learned that the suspect had chased the victim into an occupied neighboring unit and shots had been fired.

A resident of the unit was struck by gunfire and two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the suspect fled the scene in a car. The FLOCK camera system was used to determine where the suspect may have gone, and the vehicle was found on the side of the road in the 800 block of 34th Street North.

A Red River Valley armored Bearcat was used to approach and attempt to make contact with the suspect, but officers say the suspect was unresponsive.

A regional drone team was called in to take a closer look. Officers say the suspect was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and Fargo Police are not releasing any additional details at this time.
