MELBOURNE – A 19-year-old Melbourne woman who was involved in a… road accident on Interstate 95 in Melbourne, died early Saturday morning after exiting her sedan and being struck by several other vehicles.

The fatal crash occurred just after midnight Saturday as a woman was driving in the southbound lane of I-95 near the Pineda Causeway exit, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Witnesses told officers that an unidentified woman was driving a 2010 Lexus exceeding the speed limit, weaving in and out of traffic on a darkened highway. Police said the woman’s car had three passengers from Melbourne: a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman.

According to the police, the 19-year-old did not stop in front of the tractor-trailer and hit the rear of the vehicle. The Lexus spun on the highway and came to rest in the outside lane of the highway. The woman then exited the Lexus and was struck by a Ford F-150. According to police, the pickup truck left the road and hit a light pole on the right side.

Another vehicle, a 2023 Toyota Camry, traveling southbound, then ran over the 19-year-old woman as she lay on the highway, FHP said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Lexus suffered minor injuries, the other passengers at the scene of the accident refused medical treatment.
