My new partner comes from a world without a class system – I can be myself

Princess Diana’s brother has said his new relationship he flourished because his Norwegian girlfriend comes from a world without a class system.

Earl Spencer, who is in progress He is divorcing his third wife, whom he has been with for 13 yearshe said that being with Dr. Cat Jarman, an archeology professor, allowed him to be “who I really am.”

“I’m too old for things like hearts and flowers, but the best way to describe it is that thanks to Cat, I can be myself,” the 60-year-old said.

“She knows who I am. Who I really am. I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not. And she brings out the best in me.”

Dr Jarman, 42, who co-hosts the history podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives with her current boyfriend and Reverend Richard Coles, said she had no idea who Earl Spencer was until they crossed paths when she went to Althorpcountry estate belonging to Earl Spencer’s family, for archaeological excavations.

Dr. Jarman said: “I grew up in Norway, where we don’t really have a class system and there’s no interest in it at all.

“I’m a nerd. I had heard about Althorp and was excited about the lost village. When a TV producer called me and asked if I was interested, I said yes. But honestly, I didn’t know who Charles was. In a way, he joined us.

“Common interests”

The the pair started out as friends but “common interests” brought them together. “We were fascinated by the same things,” Earl Spencer said. “And she made me laugh. Laughter was the key.”

Speaking to the Mail on on Sunday at a literary festival in Iceland promoting his new book The Rabbit Hole, Earl Spencer said: ‘It’s really nice to be with someone who wants to do different things.

“Take it today. We could have come to this festival and just stayed at the hotel, but this morning we got up to see the lagoon. It’s really nice to find someone dynamic and interested.”

He added that when they met, “he wasn’t looking, neither of us was looking.”

News of their relationship comes after a difficult time for Earl Spencer following the publication of his own memories, A very private school.

A book released earlier this year claims so have been victims of sexual violence and beatings that left him with “demons for life.”

Reflecting on the process of writing the book, the Earl said: “Even now it’s hard for me.

“It wasn’t just my own story, but what made a huge impact on me was telling other people’s stories.

“Many people contacted me afterwards say the same thing. I had just finished writing an extra chapter for the paperback and when I showed it to Cat I just burst into tears.

He believes there is a connection between writing the book and the end of his marriage, which he decided to write because there was an “extremely complicated knot that needed untying”.

“I had a mission – it sounds so cliché – to find myself, get rid of the damage that school had done to me, and rediscover who I would be without it,” he said.

“By laying everything out on paper so brutally, I think I understood what was true and what wasn’t.”
