Telangana Irrigation AE on ACB network for accepting bribe

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught Vomkaram Narsinga Rao, 55, assistant engineer at the irrigation department office in Peddapalli district, red-handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant for showing favor to the official.

Rao was caught near the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Peddapalli, while he was allegedly accepting the bribe and recording it in the MB in connection with the contract work done by the complainant and also sending it along with related documents to the Executive Engineer for Irrigation, Peddapalli through the Assistant Engineer for obtaining consent to payment.

Rao recovered the tainted bribe of Rs 20,000. In a chemical test, the fingers of both Rao’s hands tested positive. ACB officials produced Rao before the special ACB court in Karimnagar, after which the court sent them to judicial custody.
