Ryan Kobayashi, father of missing Hawaiian Hannah Kobayashi, died by suicide while searching for his daughter in Los Angeles. An initial report by NBC News said the 58-year-old jumped from a parking lot near Los Angeles, one of the last places his 31-year-old daughter was seen before her disappearance.

Although the coroner has not yet officially confirmed Ryan’s cause of death, his family revealed that it was a suicide. Ryan Kobayashi, 58, traveled to Los Angeles to look for his 30-year-old daughter Hannah Kobayashi after she failed to board a flight from Los Angeles to New York more than two weeks ago.

Hannah, an aspiring photographer, went missing in downtown Los Angeles after failing to catch a connecting flight from Maui, Hawaii, to New York on November 8.

Hannah’s reasons for leaving LAX and heading 25 miles to downtown Los Angeles remain unclear. However, she sent a text to a friend mentioning that she had a “spiritual awakening” and was later seen with an unidentified man.

Her trip began in Maui on November 8 and was described in a handwritten itinerary as “bucket list dreams became a reality.” She was supposed to visit her aunt in New York, but she missed her connecting flight to Los Angeles.

The mystery continues

Family and friends received a series of cryptic messages from her phone, raising fears she may have been abducted or trafficked. According to reports, Hannah visited a bookstore on November 9 before returning to LAX in the evening.

She told her aunt that arranging another flight to New York was a “nightmare,” but assured her she was still trying to get to her destination.

The next day, her family confirmed her sighting. But on November 11, disturbing news began to appear, and her phone rang LAX one last time before going silent. “She mentioned that she was afraid and that someone might try to steal her money and identity,” said her aunt, Larie Pidgeon.

“Weird, mysterious messages – information about the matrix, it was so unlike her. And then suddenly there was no communication.”

Ryan, who had been searching tirelessly for 13 days for his missing daughter, was last seen on Friday handing out fliers in Los Angeles, asking the public for any information that could lead to her whereabouts.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to support Ryan’s fiancée, Li Jaena fired. “Ryan was my uncle – a truly extraordinary person who lit up every room with his positivity and kind heart,” the site’s description reads.

“She’s living her absolute worst nightmare since Hannah vanishingand now, after his death, our family is dealing with unimaginable grief.

“Ryan’s love for his family was limitless and he would do anything for them protect and take care of your daughters.”
