Conor McGregor releases statement on losing sexual assault civil case

Conor McGregor on Monday expressed remorse after a jury found that he raped a woman, although the UFC star did not direct those feelings towards his alleged victim, while maintaining that she was innocent.

McGregor’s comments, which he shared in a written post on Xcame just three days after losing a civil sexual assault case in Dublin. The 12-day trial ended last Friday a jury found McGregor responsible for the sexual assault of Nikita Hand after a night of partying in December 2018. The jury’s verdict included awarding Hand damages of approximately $250,000.

Immediately after the end of his sentence, McGregor announced he would appeal the jury’s decision, and on Monday he maintained that intention, while expressing regret over cheating on his longtime fiancée Dee Devlin, who is also the mother of his four children.

“People want to hear from me, I needed time,” McGregor wrote. “I know I made mistakes. Six years ago I shouldn’t have responded to (Handa’s) requests at all. I should have shut down the party. I should never have thrown myself at the woman I love most in the world. It’s all on me.

“Although I deeply regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all witnesses present swore to it under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal this decision.

“I can’t go back and I’ll move on. I am extremely grateful to my family, friends and supporters around the world who have been there for me.
That’s all. No more. We’re going back to the gym – the fight awaits!

IO Interactive announced this on Monday McGregor’s character will be removed from the popular “Hitman” video game series. in reaction to the jury’s decision. McGregor was added to the game as a downloadable expansion earlier this year.
