Lauren Boebert is quickly shutting down Down Hustle amid legal questions

Libertine. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) became Cameo’s first sitting member of Congress over the weekend, following former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to the video rental platform.

Until Monday evening o Beetlejuice The fan deactivated her account where she offered short video greetings for $250 each.

Members of Congress are admitted earn up to $31,815 to work on the side, but they are not allowed to collect “payment of money or something of value for a performance, speech, or article”, also known as royalties.

It is unclear whether video greetings will fall into this category.

“It looks like this could potentially violate the royalty ban, but it hasn’t been tested,” Aaron Scherb, senior director of legislative affairs at Common Cause, he told Colorado Politics.

The House Ethics Committee may ultimately decide whether sitting members can use the service.

In her introductory video, Boebert said she was “excited” to connect directly with her supporters and suggested several video topics.

“Whether you or someone you know needs an America First motivational speech, want to surprise friends or family with a message on their special day, or just want to hear my thoughts on anything you’re thinking about, Cameo is the place where you can connect with me,” she said.

Denver Post Office confirmed the account actually belonged to Boebert and that she described herself on the site as, “Not your typical Colorado Republican politician. Jesus-loving, constitutionalist, America first, freedom fighter.”

The newspaper reported that she was first listed as a political commentator, but was later updated to put herself in the “influencers” category before going offline completely.

Several of Boebert’s former colleagues are on Cameo. Gaetz left Congress after the president-elect was elected Donald Trump elected him attorney general. But Gaetz he abandoned this offer amid a growing sex and drug scandal – including allegations of: sex with a minor – I joined Cameo in recent days, where he currently charges $500 per video.
