Authorities are asking for help locating a missing Rankin County teenager

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Authorities need your help locating a missing Hartfield Academy student.

John Michael Jones is 16 years old and a resident of Brandon, Mississippi.

He was last seen wearing blue shorts and a white T-shirt.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office says the department was notified today that Jones was missing from his home.

According to RCSO, there is no evidence of foul play at this time.

The department says Jones has been struggling with depression following the deaths of his father and grandparents.

This led his family to fear he might be considering self-harm.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation to request assistance in issuing a Purple Alert.
