Supporting Mental Health in Southeast Missouri: Community Advisor…

The Community Counseling Center Foundation (CCCF) plays a critical role in providing essential mental health services in Southeast Missouri, providing individuals in Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry and Ste. Genevieve Counties can access the support they need. In 2023 alone, nearly 7,000 clients used CCC’s mental health programs, which proves the high demand for these services in the region.

Why mental health is important

Mental health problems affect a significant portion of the population, impacting individuals and families across the country. Statistics show that one in five adults in the U.S. experiences mental illness each year, and one in six young people ages 6 to 17 struggle with mental health issues, many of which remain unresolved. Worryingly, suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth aged 10 to 14, highlighting the need for effective mental health intervention and support. By supporting CCCF, donors can help meet these critical community needs.

How your support changes the situation

CCCF is working to fill funding gaps to ensure the Community Counseling Center (CCC) can provide comprehensive services and resources beyond its core operating budget. Here are some ways CCCF donations make a real difference:

Innovative consulting tools: Funding goes to school-based counseling and outpatient therapy, equipping programs with appropriate curricula, activities and tools to effectively engage clients.

Basic needs of at-risk youth: Through its street outreach program, CCCF provides youth in need with essential items such as socks, bedding and coats.

Household items for new changes: With a minimal budget, clients moving from nursing homes into their own apartments often lack the funds to set up a home. CCCF helps provide essentials such as pots, pans, towels and kitchen utensils.

Social activities for residential clients: Donations support recreational outings such as trips to a water park, a movie or a soccer game, providing much-needed joy and engagement for residents.

Increased security measures: CCCF is investing in facility improvements such as security cameras and fencing to provide a safer environment for residents.

Public awareness initiatives: Donations help promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts across the region.

The lasting impact of every donation

Contributions to CCCF are invaluable because they directly increase the availability and quality of mental health services in southeast Missouri. Here are some ways these gifts make an impact:

Funding for basic services: Donations support therapy sessions, medications and other essential services that clients use.

Supporting innovative programs: CCCF’s commitment to a new approach to mental health care is strengthened by donations, allowing them to introduce programs that meet the changing needs of the community.

Training of specialists: By funding professional development, CCCF ensures the availability of qualified mental health professionals who can provide high-quality care.

Stigma reduction: Through community engagement and awareness, CCCF helps reduce the stigma associated with mental illness by creating an environment where individuals feel encouraged to seek help.

Ways to give

There are various ways to support the CCCF mission:

One-time donation: : A single gift of any size offers immediate customer support.

Recurring donation: : Monthly or annual donations provide ongoing support and continuity of care.

Volunteering: Donating time or knowledge can have just as much impact as contributing financially, and volunteers play a key role in CCCF’s activities.

Participating in fundraising events: Community events offer a way to support CCCF’s mission while enjoying time with others, building awareness and raising funds.
