SANFORD (WGME) – A Maine state representative says he plans to turn himself in after a warrant is issued for his arrest on aggravated assault charges.

GOP Rep. Lucas Lanigan told CBS13 in an email that he plans to report to the York County Jail on Sunday at 11 p.m. He said he went on a business trip this weekend.

Police are searching for Lanigan after an incident on Friday. He is charged with aggravated domestic violence.

Lanigan is currently running for re-election against Democrat Patricia Kidder.
