KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 26-year-old engineer was hit with multiple charges after allegedly taking part in an armed robbery.

Jermaine Reid, also known as ‘Jerry’, of Gordon Road, Kingston, was arrested following the incident in Highgate, St Mary, on Saturday.

Reports from Highgate Police say the man was in the car park at around 8.40pm when he was attacked by two men. One of the robbers brandished a firearm, robbed a man of his cellphone worth $1,500, and then physically attacked him.

A report was filed with the police, which led to Reid’s arrest.

Reid was charged with aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon, use of a firearm in the commission of an offense and common law assault

He is scheduled to appear before the Port Maria Parish Court on Thursday, December 5.
