Odisha’s surrogate mother dies mysteriously after falling from the 9th floor. The businessman is accused of committing a crime

Hyderabad News: A 25-year-old woman from Odisha, who had traveled to Hyderabad for allegedly being a surrogate mother for a childless couple, died under mysterious circumstances after she reportedly fell out of her apartment in the early morning hours of November 26, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Ashritha Singh, was staying at the apartment of businessman Rajesh Babu, who had hired her as a surrogate mother. According to the Times of India, Ashritha’s husband, Sanjay Singh, claims that she was sexually harassed by 54-year-old Rajesh Babu, which led her to take her own life.

Based on the complaint, Raidurgam police have registered a case against Babu under relevant sections of BNS for abetment of suicide and are investigating the matter.

According to the police, the surrogacy procedure was to begin in December. Rajesh Babu lived in an apartment with his wife and other family members.

According to a report by Telangana Today, on Tuesday evening, Ashritha allegedly called her husband and informed him about the harassment she was facing from Babu, expressing her intention to take her own life. Sanjay ran to the apartment but arrived to find her body lying on the ground. According to reports, she died on the spot.

Police reportedly found a sari tied to an iron grill on the balcony of Ashritha’s ninth-floor room, reaching up to the seventh floor. While it is believed she may have tried to escape by going down the stairs, officials are also investigating whether she fell accidentally or died by suicide, according to the report.

Reports suggest that Babu offered a surrogacy deal worth Rs 10 lakh, with a small advance already paid to the couple. Sanjay claimed that Babu’s molestation led to the tragic death of his wife.
