On October 14, a third-year Bachelor of Social Work and Administration student at Mount Kenya University (MKU) was reported missing.

Kajayi’s mysterious man

The Nation reports on it Kajaya completed a 166-kilometer journey from ul Thika to Nakuru to meet a man she had known for less than two weeks.

A few days before the trip, Kajaya met a mystery man in Thika, where she reportedly visited a hospital and took an HIV test.

She returned with new clothes, groceries and cash, explaining to friends that a man she described as wealthy had given her the items.

Kajaya also mentioned that he drove a Range Rover and later gifted her a phone worth KSh11,500 during a meeting in Juja.

Why did Kajaya go to Nakuru?

One of her close friends anonymously revealed that the young woman had confided in her about her trip to Nakuru.

“I tried to convince her not to go because they barely knew each other, but she was determined,” the friend said.

Kajaya’s friend expressed concern that she had no relatives in Nakuru, but recalled that Kajaya ignored these concerns and insisted on going.

Wearing a green dress and carrying a pink bag, Kajaya left Thika on October 12 and texted her friend around 5 p.m. to confirm her arrival.

While in Nakuru, Kajaya called for help

Later that evening, Kajaya reportedly worriedly called another mutual friend, claiming she was stuck at the Nakuru bus station.

According to her, the man unexpectedly thwarted his plans, and she needed funds to get back to them Nairobi.

A short time later, she called again to tell her friends that the man had come to pick her up and assured her she was safe.

“Around 9 p.m., she called our other friend, asking him not to sleep and turn off the phone because she was planning to return to Nairobi, explaining that she had had an argument with a man,” the friend said.

That night, Kajaya’s friends waited anxiously for her return, but when she didn’t reach out again, they assumed she had reconciled with the man.

However, the next day, anxiety increased when Kajaya’s phone remained switched off and her messages went unanswered.

After more than a day of trying to contact her, her friend reported her missing at Makongeni Police Station in Thika.
