Two women are dead, one injured after being rammed by a pickup truck in Payyannur

Kannur: Two women died after being rammed by a pickup truck in Kurisumukku, Ramanthali panchayat in Payyannur on Monday while crossing the road. The deceased were Yashoda (68) and Shoba (46). Another woman, Lekha, who sustained injuries in the accident, has been shifted to Government Medical College, Kannur. All were workers covered by the rural employment guarantee program. The accident occurred around 9:40 a.m.

The police arrested Babu, the truck driver. According to police, the pickup truck loaded with goods was going down a slope. According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed women crossing the road. The women went to work under the employment guarantee program.
