The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Minnehaha County has been identified

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Authorities have released the identity of a Hartford man who died in a motorcycle crash in Minnehaha County.

An accident happened last Thursday around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 42, nine miles west of Sioux Falls.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, 56-year-old Kellin DeVries was riding a motorcycle west on Highway 42.

At the same time, the driver of the pickup truck was traveling east and tried to overtake the vehicle in front of him. Authorities say the pickup truck veered into the westbound lane and hit the motorcycle head-on.

DeVries died at the scene. The truck driver, a 19-year-old Sioux Falls man, suffered minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

At the time of the DPS press release, no charges had been filed.
