Will growing medical marijuana for personal use be allowed?

Will growing medical marijuana for personal use be allowed?

(WKYT) – When it comes to medical marijuana, today’s good question is: Will they allow everyone to develop for their own use?

No, if you are a medical marijuana card holder you will need to obtain your card from a licensed dispensary.

The creation of the Medical Cannabis Program does not change any penalties for growing marijuana in Kentucky, even if it is for personal use.

Five or more plants is a crime. Less than five constitutes a misdemeanor for a first offense.

The exception will be those that have been licensed to grow it under the Medical Marijuana Program.

Earlier this year, Louisville Rep. Nima Kulkarni attempted to pass a bill that would legalize the possession of a so-called personal-use amount of marijuana for anyone over 21 years of age. This would apply to a maximum of five marijuana plants.

This bill never made it out of committee.
