A man wanted in connection with a deadly East Nashville robbery surrenders to police

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man wanted after a deadly attack in East Nashville turned himself in to police on Monday.

Metro Nashville police said 35-year-old Clifford Jones Jr. surrendered to officers on an outstanding murder warrant in connection with the Oct. 21 assault of James Sutton at South 5th and Russell Street.

Investigators identified Jones as the suspect after reviewing surveillance video. Police said that before the alleged murder, he was seen visiting an automotive store wearing the same clothes.

“Nearby surveillance video showed Sutton being pushed to the ground during a physical altercation, causing fatal injuries,” MNPD said. “The court commissioner set Jones’ bail at $40,000.”
