All three were injured in the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital by onlookers.

Police suspect that the alleged attack on Shiv Sena Samajwadi vyopar (trade) district president Rajan Rana was the result of a road accident. The police from Department 3 are finishing the investigation.

Police officials identified the victim’s brother as Bobby and nephew as Piyush.

This is not the first such case. Less than two weeks ago, two attackers on bicycles threw a petrol bomb at the house of another leader of a Hindu group.

According to reports, the new incident occurred when Rana and his family were on their way to Bobby’s ancestral home after a birthday party.

Due to traffic jam near the food stalls in Chaura Bazar, Piyush, who was driving, honked his horn to clear the way. However, the group of young people did not back down. Rana said he managed to drive past, but the youths caught up with them and blocked the scooter with a scooter.

He alleged that they then attacked because they opposed the earlier honking. He added that the defendants’ associates appeared and attacked them with weapons.

After the incident, Shiv Sena Samajwadi leaders, including national president Honey Bhardwaj, national youth leader Vishal Madan and Punjab in-charge Rishabh Kannaujiya, visited the injured at the civil hospital. The victims were later shifted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where Rana received stitches for head injuries.

Bhardwaj and Madan demanded strict action in the case and urged immediate arrest of those involved in the attack.

Station House Officer-in-Charge No. 3 (SHO) Amritpal Sharma said police arrested Gagan Kwatra on the spot as part of “preventive action”. He said the police are waiting for the victims to record their statements after which a first information report (FIR) will be prepared. The SHO said it looked like road rage.

Police sources said they have obtained video footage of the attack and are working to identify others involved.

On October 16, two unidentified assailants attacked the house of Shiv Sena (Bharatvanshi) president Yogesh Bakshi in New Chandar Nagar.
