People think Donald Trump’s comment about Michelle Obama sounded a lot like a threat

Former President Donald Trump on Monday made what critics say were threatening remarks about former first lady Michelle Obama, while lamenting her recent criticism of him.

“You know who was mean to me? Michelle Obama,” Trump complained during a rally in Atlanta, Georgia.

“I’ve always tried to be so nice and respectful,” Trump said, conveniently forgetting about his frequent and years-long attacks on the former FLOTUS and husband, his predecessor Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama “opened up a little bit, a little bit of boxes,” Trump said. “She opened something small. Oh she was nasty, oooh.

“It was a big mistake she made,” he added.

The Republican candidate then went on to talk about how if he regains the White House, the United States will have “the strongest economy, the most secure borders, the safest cities, the most powerful military,” and more.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign shared footage of Trump’s comments on X (previously on Twitter) and described them as a “brazen tirade” that indicated a “demand for revenge.”

The group Republicans Against Trump asked: “Is this a threat?”
