Kannur: ADM K Naveen Babu’s wife has expressed relief over the arrest of former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya in connection with his suicide. The Thalassery District Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of ​​Divya, who was charged with abetment of suicide after his death.

After the bail plea was rejected, Naveen Babu’s wife Manjusha, who works as Additional Tehsildar in Konni, stated that the police should arrest Divya.

“The person who ruined our lives must be arrested. The police should not protect her,” Manjusha said in her first response to the media after Naveen Babu’s death.

“The district secretary should have intervened when the clerk (Divya) was speaking at the council meeting. Video recording also had to be prevented. I’m not sure if it was planned in advance or not. It was part of the investigation,” she said. in addition. Meanwhile, Naveen Babu’s brother Praveen said that the family would continue their legal battle if Divya files an appeal.

The court issued its decision shortly after convening the meeting, around 11:00. Since bail has been rejected, Divya can either file a pre-arrest bail application in the High Court or surrender before the First Class Magistrate’s Court, Kannur. In anticipation of this decision, there was an increased police presence outside the magistrates’ court.

Before the court’s decision, Divya sought treatment at Payyannur Cooperative Hospital on Monday for high blood pressure. She left after half an hour.
