Heart catcher author Alice Oseman shared details about a deleted scene from the show about queer teens.

It’s been almost a month since the latest season dropped on Netflix, but fans of the show – which stars Joe Locke and Kit Connor as queer couple Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson – still desperate for more Heart catcher contents.

Although they do have a role as Locke in a queer Marvel show Agata all the way and Connor’s turn on Broadway Romeo and Juliet to keep them going, they are still keen Heart catcher in as much detail as possible.

Now series creator Alice Oseman has given them a new reason to talk.

In a speech on the messaging platform Discord, Oseman told fans that a scene in season three involving Charlie’s teachers, a gay couple, Mr. Ajayi (Fisayo Akinade) and Mr. Farouk (Nima Taleghani).

Oseman explained that the two teachers discussed whether they should tell Charlie’s parents about his deteriorating mental health.

Much of the third season focuses on Charlie’s worsening anorexia and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

“Actually, the scene where Mr. Ajayi and Mr. Farouk have a short conversation about whether Mr. A should tell Charlie’s parents about what Charlie said was deleted,” Oseman told fans.

In the hit Netflix series, Mr. Ajayi is one of the few people Charlie seems to trust. The teacher realizes that his young student has problems with order, fainted during the second season of the trip to Paris, and sometimes prefers to eat dinner alone.

“Mr. A is very worried, but Mr. F thinks that telling his parents might make things worse for Charlie. They decide not to tell Charlie’s parents, but it’s unclear whether that’s the right decision or not…even I’m not sure,” Oseman continued.

“But at least I expect Mr. A to be more vigilant and take care of Charlie after their conversation.”

Fans on social media lamented the removal of the scene and called on Netflix to release all unseen footage from the season.

One fan said, “I actually wish we had this scene,” while another echoed that thought, saying, “It should have stayed. There were a few scenes that could have been left out to make it fit.

Although the streaming giant’s adaptation is a largely faithful adaptation of Oseman Heart catcher graphic novels, there are scenes in the third season that fans expected to be included but ended up in the editing room.

One involved Charlie’s sister, Tori, who is revealed to be asexual in the novels.

However, Oseman he told PinkNews exclusively it didn’t happen on screen recently because there was “no preparation for it,” but revealed: “I originally wrote that (scene) there.”

“Then when we read the scripts, I felt like we (didn’t) spend enough time with Tori and Michael as a couple. We haven’t seen any suggestion that this is something Tori is dealing with, and there are plenty of situations like this in season three.

“There really was no place to put it without sacrificing something else. I felt like I’d rather not do it here, save it for – fingers crossed – new seasonwhere I could delve into this storyline in much greater depth and complexity and really do it justice.”

Heart catcher season three is now streaming on Netflix.
