OL guru criticizes Steelers’ Broderick Jones for poor play: ‘He plays like he hates football’

The Pittsburgh Steelers they were scheduled to start rookie Troy Fautanu at right tackle over Broderick Jones until Fautanu suffered a patella dislocation that required surgery. Jones took this as an opportunity to showcase his abilities, and the returns for the Steelers haven’t been very promising since taking over.

Jones consistently allowed pressure and sacked players no matter who he faced. Sometimes he uses strange techniques, such as not even using his hands to block edge rushers. Offensive line guru Duke Manyweather commented on Jones’ questionable play immediately after diving into the net. New York Giants.

“Broderick Jones is too talented to play like he just doesn’t give (expletive) and hates football,” Manyweather said on X.

Former NFL offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz, a four-time All-Pro, noticed multiple issues with Jones’ technique. Schwartz, in particular, was amazed by Jones’ use of his hands. Jones allowed five pressures and a sack against the Giants, which contributed to another poor performance.

– Broderick knows you’re allowed to use your hands, right? Sometimes I’m not sure he knows it’s legal,” Schwartz said.

If the Steelers want their offense to continue to take the next step, they need to see better play from their second-year offense. For now, he seems to be everywhere and is having a negative impact on the right tackle no matter who the Steelers play week to week.
