YouTuber nicknamed ‘South Africa’s Steve Irwin’ dies after cobra attack

The YouTube star known as “South Africa’s Steve Irwin” has died from complications following a cobra attack, his wife has confirmed.

South African YouTuber and wildlife conservationist Graham “Dingo” Dinkelman died on October 26 from complications following a venomous snake bite.

About a month ago, he was bitten by a cobra, which led to anaphylactic shock. The father of three was in an induced coma while being treated in the intensive care unit and was taking strong sedatives.

His wife Kirsty confirmed the information about his deathwriting: “Dingo fought incredibly hard throughout this very difficult period. We know he fought to be here with us, and we are so grateful for that.

“Unfortunately, despite his strength and resilience, my beloved husband died peacefully today, surrounded by his family.”

Kirsty also thanked fans for their support, adding: “Today (October 26) marks one month since it happened and we have received comfort and love from your messages and prayers from around the world.”

A 2022 article called him the Steve Irwin of South Africa, and his films have earned him a huge fan base around the world. Dingo had over 100,000 YouTube subscribers and over 600,000 Instagram followers.

Following his death, many fans paid tribute to Dingo in the comments of his latest video. One user said: “I’m devastated! I have been watching Dingo for years. His passion for animals and personality was an absolute gift to watch. I can’t believe he’s gone.”

Another wrote: “RIP Legend! Your knowledge and enthusiasm have really helped me develop a love and respect for snakes. I will miss your videos on my channels.”

The content creator isn’t the only YouTube star to die this year; in September, NateNation lost his life when his Chevrolet Corvette rolled over.
