Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani reacts to shoulder injury at press conference

On Monday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 to move one step closer to winning the World Series.

The Dodgers they now have a 3-0 series lead over the Yankees, meaning they are just one win away from winning their first title since the 2020 season.

In the victory, Freddie Freeman delivered a huge outburst with a two-run homer in the first inning. Walker Buehler dominated on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings.

After suffering a shoulder injury in Game 2, Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch. He also scored a run. Even though he was in the lineup, Ohtani was clearly uncomfortable with some of his swings. Just 48 hours earlier, he suffered a subluxated left shoulder and former NFL team doctor David Chao expressed his opinion he will likely need surgery after the season.

After the game, Ohtani met with the media to talk about how his arm is feeling, the sling he wears on his arm and more. He said that from a pain standpoint, his arm feels better. You can hear his full comments from MLB Network below:

Ohtani is clearly blowing it off because it’s the World Series, but it will be interesting to see what comes out of the postseason. If he needs surgery, how will it affect his ability to prepare for spring training in 2025? And if he needs surgery, how will that affect his post-season recovery? He was on a limited throwing program that will likely need to be strengthened, but he wouldn’t be able to do that if he needed to rest and recover.

Game four of the World Series will be played on Tuesday night.
