A driver died in a traffic accident in unincorporated Antioch

Unincorporated ANTIOCH, Ill. – AND Wauconda a man died on Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in an unincorporated town Antioch– officials say.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash at West Grass Lake Road and Broadway Avenue around 1:10 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said a 37-year-old man was driving a GMC Sierra westbound on West Grass Lake Road when, for unknown reasons, he left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Bystanders pulled the man from the vehicle before crews arrived. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not been revealed.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
