Fatal dump truck accident in Brandywine

Brandywine, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal dump truck crash that occurred Monday in Brandywine. The victim was identified as 76-year-old Frederick Hand of Prince Frederick.

On Monday around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash at Cedarville Road and Dent Road. At the scene, they found driver Frederick Hand suffering from injuries inside the dump truck. He was transported to hospital, where he later died.

Initial investigations indicate that Hand was driving northbound on Cedarville Road when his truck left the roadway and struck several trees. The specific causes of the crash are still under investigation.
