The teenager was attacked on Sunday while walking with friends on Hull Road in Anlaby

A mother claims her 13-year-old son could have easily died when he was attacked by a stranger.

The boy suffered serious injuries to his face and neck in the attack, which occurred in an alleyway near Gino’s takeaway in Anlaby at around 8.30pm GMT on Sunday.

Natalie, 38, said doctors told her the cut to her son’s neck missed his carotid artery by 0.4 inch (1 cm) and if it had been cut, “he would have died instantly.”

Det Insp Andy Crawforth confirmed that officers were investigating the incident and added: “This is a terrible set of circumstances that has resulted in a young boy suffering serious injuries.”

Describing the incident, Natalie said someone shouted at her son as he was walking with friends after visiting a takeaway.

He was then hit on the head, causing him to drop the food, she added.

Her son ran to a friend’s house “there was blood everywhere.”

Natalie received a call from her friend’s mother, who explained what had happened.

Natalie said he had broken glass stuck in his neck.

“He was in great shock.

“He’s in a lot of pain, he keeps having flashbacks and doesn’t want to leave the house.”
