Pedestrian hit by vehicle, seriously injured on Southeast Indian Side – Indianapolis News | Weather in Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis police say one person was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on the city’s southeast side Wednesday morning.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched just before 6 a.m. to check on the welfare of a person at 1200 South Arlington Avenue. This is a residential area between Brookville Road and Raymond Street.

Police arrived and found the person seriously injured. IMPD says the victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

A witness at the scene told News 8 the person was walking on or along the road when they were hit.

IMPD says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area until recovery and investigation are complete.
