Geauga County Sheriff’s Deputy Injured, Business Seriously Damaged in Accident

MUNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A family-owned business in Munson Township is severely damaged in a crash involving a truck and a Geauga County Sheriff’s cruiser.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms that a 29-year-old sheriff’s deputy was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.

Farleys Country Store now has a large yellow tarp out front and rubbish is strewn everywhere.

Emergency crews closed Mayfield Road at State Route 44 in Munson.

They were called here just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday following a two-vehicle accident.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Sheriff’s Department cruiser, driven by a 29-year-old man, was traveling southbound when it collided with a westbound Dodge Ram.

Investigators say the deputy failed to yield, forcing both cars to leave the road and enter the building.

The owners of the Country Farleys store, who lived upstairs, heard a loud crash.

They went downstairs and in front of the store, practically cheated.

They told our Overnight News Tracker that there were no serious injuries, but cleanup would be tedious.

This comes as they prepare to celebrate 100 years of running this beloved family business.

They shared photos and videos of the aftermath and extensive destruction following the disaster.

Vehicles are distorted.

A white pickup truck drove straight into the front of the business.

The Geauga County Sheriff’s cruiser is pinned right against him.

Investigators confirm that the second driver, a 45-year-old from Chardon, was unharmed.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says alcohol, drugs or speed were not a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
