Maine mock student election results

MAINE (WABI) – The results of Maine’s student mock elections held on Tuesday have been announced.

Voting results were submitted by 115 schools.

In the presidential race, students chose former President Donald Trump, who received 52% of the vote.

Vice President Kamala Harris received almost 41%.

Independent Cornell West would receive 2% of the vote, Green candidate Jill Stein would receive 1.9% of the vote and Libertarian Chase Oliver would receive 1.8%.

Incumbent Democrat Chellie Pingree won the First Congressional District with almost 41% of the vote.

Republican candidate Ronald Russell received over 38.5%.

In the 2nd Congressional District, incumbent Democrat Jared Golden won by less than one percent, 49.3% over Republican Austin Theriault, who received 48.8% of the vote.

In the U.S. Senate race, incumbent Angus King finished first with just over 43 percent of the vote. Republican Demi Kouzounas got almost 24 percent, and independent Jason Cherry got just over 16 percent.

21,443 students voted for the Presidential Candidate.

19,396 students voted for the representative of the Congress District Chamber.

19,655 students voted for U.S. senator.
