Delivery Managers’ Uniforms Helped Cover Up a Murder for Months | Gurgaon News

How the shooters' suppliers' uniforms fooled the cops for 4 months

Gurgaon: Four months after a club’s bouncer was shot dead on a busy street in the city, police this week arrested two assailants who could not be traced earlier because they wore food delivery uniforms and helmets to mask their identities.
The investigation into this case was handed over to A special task force three weeks ago.
On June 28, Anuj Dayama – who worked at a local club as a bouncer – was sitting in his car at a crowded market in Ullawas when two men opened fire on him. Anuj was chased for a distance of 100 meters, after which the attackers fired 12 shots. Six bullets hit him before he fell to the ground.
STF cops said three men were arrested this week in connection with Anuj’s murder. Of the three accused, Vikram (31) and Dalbir (20) committed the murder, while an associate Narender Bhati (27) helped them plan the attack.
Police said that at the time of the murder, Bhati was in jail in connection with a separate theft case.
DSP Preetpal Sangwan, who headed the STF, said the accused were arrested from Sohna.
“We searched CCTV footage but it yielded no results. Since both suspects were wearing Blinkit and Zomato T-shirts, we checked the details of company executives who were present near the crime scene at the time of the murder. None of them were present. he was found to be involved,” Sangwan said.
The DSP said that when the technical analysis also yielded no results, the team contacted local informants to get information about the suspects.
During interrogation, Vikram told the cops that he had planned the murder because two months earlier, Anuj had beaten him up for trying to set up a stall near a hotel at Ullawas Chowk.
“Vikram, accused of multiple thefts in Gurgaon, decided to illegally set up a small cigarette shop on government land at Ullawas Chowk. While he was clearing the bushes in the area to set up his shop, Anuj came there in an SUV, beat him up and left the place, and the locals told Vikram that no one can set up illegal shops in the area without Anuj’s permission,” the DSP said.
In a bid to “settle the score”, Vikram initially planned to beat up Anuj, but since the 24-year-old was “well-built”, the group decided to “eliminate him using weapons”, the DSP added. STF inspector Narender Chauhan said that the accused had been following Anuj for two months.
“Vikram came up with a plan and the group stole the shirts and bags of Blinkit and Zomato executives from the place where employees of the food delivery app were gathering. Vikram and Dalbir were also wearing hats, gloves and masks at the time of the murder, Chauhan said.
In the FIR, all three were booked under IPC sections 302 (murder), 34 (common intention), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and the Arms Act.
The police recovered three firearms, four live cartridges, a bicycle, a Blinkit T-shirt and a Zomato bag. The STF team will receive rewards of Rs 1 lakh from Haryana DGP and Rs 20,000 from Gurgaon Police Commissioner for solving the case.
