Monroe County Schools will receive nearly million to upgrade technology

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – On Monday morning, the Monroe County School Board received the largest grant in the district’s history, totaling $969,331.

The grant will be used to improve distance learning technology and resources.

The funds will be used to purchase new laptops for students, new touch panels for employees and improve teachers’ access to professional development opportunities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when remote learning became necessary, officials quickly realized the district needed accommodations for its students, officials said. While current funding has helped them purchase necessary supplies, the new grant will enable them to expand these opportunities throughout the district.

The equipment will be delivered and fully functional by the spring semester.
