When Scott Schwirian, 39, and Heidi Reynolds, 36, were stopped by deputies in the Toucan Trail area of ​​Spring Hill nearly two weeks ago, detectives said they saw a rolled cigar containing a green leafy substance they identified as marijuana.

According to HCSO, they also found a pill box labeled “Xanax” that contained 11 alprazolam pills and two separate baggies containing fentanyl residue.

Deputies removed Schwirian from the driver’s seat and an unidentified passenger from the passenger seat.

Deputies say the backseat passenger, later identified as Reynolds, refused to give detectives her name, identification or exit the vehicle.

After several attempts to get her to voluntarily exit the vehicle, Reynolds was led away and handcuffed.

Police say that during a search of the vehicle, they found three syringes filled with a clear liquid that was later found to contain methamphetamine. They also found a black package containing four more marijuana cigarettes.

According to HCSO, a blue package and a locked brown safe were also located in the vehicle.

When deputies tried to arrest Schwirian, they said he fled but didn’t get far. According to deputies, Schwirian ran straight into a telephone pole and was immediately taken into custody.

After obtaining a search warrant for the safe on October 25, detectives found multiple used syringes, new plastic bags, cut straws containing residue, a digital scale, two separate bags containing a green leafy substance and six separate bags containing 40.5 grams of a crystal-like substance in which the presence of methamphetamine was detected.

Schwirian was charged with resisting an officer with violence, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of alprazolam and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $27,000.

Reynolds was arrested on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and resisting officers without violence. Due to the human trafficking charge, Reynolds was initially held without bail.
