Manistique Area Schools are only offering a virtual Halloween parade option for safety reasons

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) – Manistique Area Schools released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the Halloween parade.

Comments posted on the school’s Facebook page said the decision was based on feedback from parents and staff who expressed concerns that opening the building to the public was not the right choice at this time for the peace of mind of the school community.

The decision is made just a day later A special meeting was held at Manistique Public Schools during which over 150 parents expressed their concerns about school safety.

Earlier this month Law enforcement investigated the threat sent via text message but no credible threats were found against any school in Schoolcraft County. However, at Tuesday evening’s meeting, parents were upset as they stated that the threat was investigated and reported to parents only after the investigation was completed.
